I love sharing a good find, especially business tools that someone was kind enough to share it with me. Here’s one that I learned about from Mike G. at Heroic Public Speaking. Otter is a free voice to text app that is very intuitive. It generates notes for meetings, interviews, lectures, and other important voice conversations. I was blown away by how it instinctively corrects grammar and adds punctuation. It even starts a new paragraph when you pause, impressive, right?. I am really glad I don’t have to dictate when to add a period or comma. I was even more impressed when recording a client conversation the app identified “Speaker 1” and “Speaker 2”.

I’ve been using Otter to record meetings with clients so we never miss another “moment of genius.” I love using it in the car to capture my thoughts about writing I am doing for clients, articles I’m writing, edits for my keynote, for new speeches I’m working on, and for brilliant business ideas as they come to me. I do some of my best thinking in the car, now I can capture these thoughts.

As a voice to text app that helps me get things done, it’s pretty darn close to perfect in my book. Now if it could read my mind and write it out when I’m not talking…that would be impressive, but then again that might get me in a lot of trouble.

“Otter, your AI-powered assistant.”
