Are you stuck? Do you want more, but aren’t sure how to get there or how to handle it if you scale your business? The answer can be found in your willingness to seek help. One thing every business owner needs to understand from the start is…you are not alone.
Resources, resources everywhere I turn there are resources and many are free. Yes, I said free!! There’s SCORE, SBA, online help, offline help, oodles of other free resources, and tons of coaches and gurus offering free advice for small business owners. So where do you start? Start at the beginning!!
Identify what it is you need help with. Are you a new business owner? If so, here’s a list that SCORE offers for a starting point:
- Choose the right business and legal structure
- Developing a business plan
- Marketing plan
- Social media plan
- Finding sources of funding and anything else needed to start or grow your business
Maybe you aren’t new, you have a plan, but things just aren’t moving as quickly as you’d like them to. Find a strategy coach or a mastermind group that will help you develop new ideas and find the right balance or the push you need to move forward.
Sometimes you just need someone to give you a fresh perspective or to help you see how to use the current trends to move forward faster by tapping into some opportunities you haven’t considered before. There are tons of podcasts and groups out there to tap into, what are you waiting for?
No matter whether you are a one human show or managing a staff of fifty, we all need some help along the way. Don’t be afraid to look for it. A mentor, a friend, a “Friendtor” can be a huge help in moving your business forward. Find someone in your industry, someone with the success you desire to have and ask them if they would be willing to mentor you.
Create the vision you want for your business and find the help you need to get you there. That help will change over time as you grow and learn. The important thing is to keep on seeking.
