We have to remember when we’re focusing on business that we need to look up. Sometimes we get so busy keeping our heads down, doing what we need to do to get everything done in a day, that we forget to look up and take in the world around us. We have all these plans and projects we need to focus on and get done. Sometime we just need to remember to look up, take a break, take a deep breath.
Look up, look around. Look at the progress that you’ve made. Look at what you’ve accomplished so far. Look at where you’re going. Take measure and make sure that you’re going in the right direction.
Is this what you envisioned for your business to this point? Are you on track with your goals or are you so stinking busy that you’ve forgetting that there’s so much more around you to enjoy? That’s there’s so much more to life?
This morning I took a Barre’ class and while I was doing muscle quaking exercises and focusing intently on my form and my breathing, I was almost startled when I opened my eyes and looked out the window.
The sun was coming up! The sky was changing and the colors were amazing! It was so awesome to look out and see the beauty that surrounded me. The darkness had turned from a gray haze to a brilliant collage of pinks, purples, and oranges in what seemed like only moments. I was in awe!
Sometimes I just forget, I get so into what I’m doing that I don’t see everything that’s around me and how wonderful it is.
How often do you forget to look around? How often are you driving down the road staring straight ahead and all of the sudden you come to a clearing and it takes your breath away because it’s so beautiful up ahead? That’s what it should be like when you pick your head up from your work.
Are you pleased with what you see? Are you moving in the right direction? Does it bring you satisfaction? I know there may be a lot more work to be done to get where you are going, but be sure to check your progress along the way by looking up from time to time.
Check your progress by reviewing your business plan and your goals periodically. Goals are basically a timeline for your business plan. Goals help us focus on where we’re going, they actually help us look up and see the bigger picture.
Spend time refreshing your soul. Take a break, take a breather. Look around at the wonders that surround you and take in the sights for a fresh perspective. It’s a great way to refocus when you come back to your work.
Look up often. I hope you like what you see!
